Design

There are only two trim levels in the 2024 Sportage Plug-In Hybrid lineup, the X-Line and X-Line Prestige. There’s really no need for additional trims because even the base model on this line has so many incredible standard features. For instance, both trims have a smart power liftgate and a stunning panoramic sunroof with a power sunshade. The cargo area has a generous 40 cubic feet of storage space, plus more in the dual-level cargo floor, including a sturdy cover.

Kia designed this Sportage to ensure the whole family will be comfortable on even the lengthiest journeys. The lower X-line model’s standard features include heated front seats, a dual-zone climate control system with rear AC vents, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat with 2-way power lumbar support. The higher X-Line prestige models have standard ventilated front seats, a heated steering wheel, an 8-way power-adjustable front passenger seat, and driver’s seat memory.

Performance

Both trim levels have a 1.6-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder engine and a Full Parallel Hybrid System. The electric motor provides 89 hp and 224 lb-ft of torque by itself, while the engine delivers 177 hp and 195 lb-ft of torque. Combined, they offer 261 hp and 258 lb-ft of torque. Remote Engine Start is also included for this trim.

A 6-speed automatic transmission is standard, as well. It has four driving modes from which you can choose: Normal, Smart, Sport, and Snow. The AWD hybrid model has a 2,000-pound maximum towing capacity with trailer brakes and can tow up to 1,653 pounds without them. This model also has a 34-mile driving range.

Technology

A 6-speaker audio system with AM/FM stereo and SiriusXM satellite radio is standard in the line’s lowest trim level. A huge 12.3-inch touchscreen display with navigation anchors the standard infotainment system, which includes wireless Bluetooth connectivity for multiple devices, Android Auto, and Apple CarPlay. The front row has access to a USB-C charging port, a USB media port, and a wireless phone charger. The second row has two USB-C charging ports.
