Offering a large cabin, comfortable ride, and a powerful engine with hybrid efficiency, the 2024 Kia Sportage Hybrid is the eco-friendly SUV you’ll love to drive. And with the backing of Kia’s class-leading 10-year/100,000-mile limited powertrain warranty, you can continue driving worry-free for years to come. Keep reading to discover some of the features that make the Sportage Hybrid both cost-efficient and eco-friendly.
1. Hybrid Engine
Behind the Sportage Hybrid’s good looks are a 1.6-liter turbo gasoline engine and electric motor with a hybrid battery, which together produce best-in-class 227 horsepower and 258 lb.-ft. of torque. This combination of motors optimizes efficiency by using the gasoline engine when it’s needed, and switching to the electric motor for easier tasks like cruising or downhill driving.
A six-speed automatic transmission further optimizes the balance of fuel efficiency and power by shifting gears in response to driver input. You can refine the transmission’s responsiveness by choosing from Normal, Smart, Sport, and available Snow Drive Modes. Kia’s hybrid technology gives drivers a best-of-both-worlds SUV with plenty of power and up to an estimated 43 MPG combined.
2. Regenerative Braking
Whenever your vehicle brakes or decelerates, it produces energy. This energy is lost in conventional gasoline engines, but the Sportage Hybrid recaptures that energy and uses it to recharge the battery. Drivers can choose one-pedal driving, which will decelerate the car as you release the gas pedal, or use paddles on the steering wheel to adjust the amount of regenerative braking.
3. Hybrid Battery
Your Sportage Hybrid’s battery is made to last and is protected by a 10-year/100,000-mile (whichever comes first) limited warranty. Lithium-ion hybrid batteries typically last 10 to 20 years, and can be recycled at the end of their lifespan.
4. Class-leading Cargo Space
With 39.5 cu. ft. of rear cargo space behind the second-row seats, you can take more passengers and gear along on each trip, reducing your carbon footprint. For even more cargo storage, fold the second-row seats flat to reveal 73.7 cu. ft. of space. The available Smart Power Liftgate recognizes your key, giving you the added convenience of hands-free access to the cargo area.
5. Kia Connect
With available Kia Connect, you’ll be able to use your smartphone to remotely start and stop your vehicle’s engine, and lock or unlock doors. You can also use this system to locate your vehicle and get notifications when it’s due for routine maintenance.

Top 5 Kia Accessories for Your Outdoor Adventures

Customizing your vehicle can help you showcase the pride you have in your ride and create a more comfortable driving experience overall. Keep reading to discover 5 great Kia accessories that can boost your car’s performance, give it more off-roading capabilities, and make cleaning a breeze.
1. Cargo Tray
A cargo tray is a custom-fit, tough plastic tray that protects your cargo area from spills, grime, and pet hair. This waterproof cover keeps stains off your Kia’s upholstery and makes transporting dirty cargo like sports equipment, shoes, and gardening supplies easier than ever. Some trays are foldable so they can be easily removed and put back in to get the most out of your available space.
2. Roof Rack
Roof racks are easy to install and give you extra room to safely transport bicycles, canoes, and hard shell cargo carriers. A rack keeps these items out of your trunk and the interior cab, which leaves you more room for passengers and other important items. Transporting heavy items on a rack also helps your vehicle maintain its center of gravity so you can have better control on the road.
3. All-Weather Floor Mats
Protecting your Kia’s carpeting helps preserve its value and creates a more enjoyable ride. All-weather mats are a great solution to keep water, mud, drink spills, and other damaging substances off your car’s floor. These mats are made of durable materials that can be easily rinsed off at the car wash so you don’t have to pull your entire carpet out to get it clean.
4. Tow Ability
Many Kia SUVs and hatchbacks allow drivers to tow heavy loads, which can be helpful if you need to transport a small boat or travel trailer. If towing is a main concern for you, be sure to check how much weight a vehicle is rated to tow and what additional equipment you may need for the job before making a final decision.
5. Car Cover
If you don’t have access to covered parking, consider purchasing a custom car cover designed to fit precisely to the body of your vehicle. This protects your car from snow, ice, road grime, and harmful UV rays to reduce wear and tear on the paint and critical vehicle components.
About the Kia Certified Program
Certified pre-owned Kias go through a meticulous, 164-point inspection that ensures each vehicle is road-ready from top to bottom. When you purchase a Certified Kia, you know you’re investing in quality, value, and dependability.

Advice From Your Kia Dealer: How To Jump-Start a Car

Jump-starting might look difficult, but it’s a very simple process. As your Kia dealer, we want to tell you how to jump-start a car safely and easily. In this example, your Kia will have a healthy battery and jump-start the other vehicle.
Locate the Dead Battery
This might seem obvious, as most car batteries are under the hood. Some vehicles, however, have a battery and engine in the rear. It’s important to know the battery location, as you want to position your Kia, so its battery is as close to the other vehicle’s battery as possible. Parking close to the other vehicle makes it easier to connect the jump leads and speeds up the flow of electricity from one battery to the other.
Connect the Cables
Jumper cables have a red and a black cable. The red cable connects to the positive terminals while the black cable connects to the negative terminal in your battery and acts as a grounding wire in the other vehicle. The cables must be connected in a specific order, as an incorrect connection can prevent the dead battery from recharging or even start a fire.
Connect one end of the red cable to the positive terminal on the dead battery, then connect the other end to the positive terminal on your battery. Once this cable is securely connected, attach one end of the black cable to the negative terminal on your battery. The final step is to connect the remaining clamp to the black cable to any unpolished metal surface in the other vehicle’s engine.
Apply Some Juice
Once the cables are in place, start your engine and idle. This will allow electricity to flow into the dead battery. After a few minutes, head to the other vehicle and try to start its engine. If the engine starts, your work is done.
If the other engine doesn’t start, return to your Kia and allow the engine to idle for another ten to fifteen minutes. It’s important to remember that a battery can be affected by the weather. If the weather is very cold, a weak battery will need extra power to overcome the resistance caused by low temperatures. Try and start the other vehicle again.
Remove the Cables
Once the other engine is running, it’s time to disconnect the cables. Jumper cables must be removed in reverse order, starting with removing the black cable from the jumped car. Pack your jumper cables away, and you’re now ready to leave.
If you’d like more information about jump-starting a car, contact us today at Courtesy Kia in Altoona, PA. We can also test your battery to ensure it’s in good condition and will never leave you stuck and looking for a jump-start.
Getting a Tire Rotation at Your Kia Dealership

An important part of diligent tire maintenance is routine tire rotations. When the tires of your car are regularly switched around, they stay more uniform in size and last much longer. There are also safety and vehicle performance benefits. Let’s look in more detail at why you should schedule rotations twice a year at your local Kia dealership.
Reduced Risk of Blowouts and Skids
When tires wear unevenly, it results in unbalanced pressure against the road across the different wheels. This can reduce the traction of one or two wheels, which increases your chance of experiencing a skid.
As just one or two tires wear down faster, they also become more at risk of being damaged or suffering a puncture. Regular rotation keeps all four tires even in size and tread depth, as they’re designed to be, minimizing these safety hazards.
Improved Vehicle Handling
Cars are engineered to have perfectly aligned wheels of equal size. Uneven tire wear creates a mismatch in wheel size, which can hamper your handling in various ways.
Your steering may become less precise and responsive, while the lessened traction reduces your confidence when accelerating and cornering. With routine rotations, you can keep your steering, handling, and confidence in top form.
Extended Tire Longevity
Uneven tire wear can also cause a set of tires to prematurely wear out unless the problem is corrected with regular rotations. The more uneven tires become, the worse your handling and safety risks get until eventually, you need to replace the full set of tires. This means spending a good deal more on new tires over the lifespan of your car.
Lessened Road Noise and Roughness
Additional road friction is created by uneven tires, which no longer roll smoothly in perfect unison against the road. This increased friction heightens both noise and vibrations, making for a less pleasurable driving experience.
Better Gas Mileage
The extra drag generated by uneven tires works against your car’s engine power. As fuel efficiency diminishes, you’ll find your car burning through more gas for each mile you travel.
Tire Warranty Compliance
It’s generally advisable to keep warranties valid until they expire, which entails following the warranty’s maintenance guidelines. Most tire warranties require routine rotations to remain valid, which makes sense given how negatively uneven tire wear impacts tires. So if you wish to maintain the peace of mind that your warranty provides, routinely rotate your tires at your local dealership.

The easiest way to finance your new vehicle is to work with the finance experts at your local Kia dealership. Car financing is easy at the dealership, since your dealer has greater flexibility when building a finance deal, even if you don’t have perfect credit.
1. Competitive Interest Rates
Unlike a bank or credit union, your local dealership partners with many lenders to find you the most competitive interest rates for your auto loan. Whether it’s a local financial institution or Kia’s financing branch, your dealership finance team will do the hard work to find a low interest rate for your loan.
Even if you have poor credit, dealership financing is still a good option to consider. Your local dealership is willing to work with you if you are recovering from bankruptcy or you are trying to build better credit. You can discuss special finance programs with your dealership finance department if you have weak credit or you’ve been turned down for an auto loan before.
2. Fast Loan Pre-Approvals
If you aren’t sure what you can afford to buy or you want to preview your potential interest rate, you can submit a free credit application on your dealership’s website. Usually, your loan will be pre-approved in a matter of hours or days. With fast loan pre-approval, you can set your car shopping budget and devise a plan to get a lower monthly payment, such as by saving up for a down payment before you visit the dealership.
3. Flexible Loan and Lease Options
Your dealership can build a customized finance package that fits your financial needs. If you are interested in buying a car, then a finance plan can be tailored with a longer or shorter loan term so you can pay off your car with affordable monthly payments. Your auto loan deal can also include the trade-in valuation of your current car to knock down the sticker price on your new Kia.
If you would rather lease your new vehicle, then the finance department can create a lease agreement that fits your needs. If you are someone who drives a lot, then your lease can have a larger mileage limit. You can also reserve the option to purchase your vehicle at the end of your lease.
4. Value-Added Services
Your dealership finance department can help you protect your vehicle in the long term with value-added services. These value-added services can include extended warranties and specific vehicle protection plans for your paint or tires.
Whether you’re new to car ownership or you’ve been leasing vehicles for years, it can be daunting to figure out your financing plan by yourself. Fortunately, your dealership finance department can make this process much easier with tailor-made finance plans. Get in touch with Courtesy Kia in Altoona, PA to learn about financing plans today.

5 Tips for Parallel Parking Your Kia

Knowing how to parallel park can save you a lot of time and effort. Many drivers will see a space parallel to the curb and avoid it simply because they’re not confident of parking in it. As your Kia dealer, we’d like to tell you how to park parallel in just a few easy steps.
Find the Space
When you’re choosing a parking space parallel to the curb, always choose one that’s longer than your Kia. This is especially important when you’re still practicing this type of parking, as you must have enough space to easily maneuver into it. Once you have more experience, you’ll have even more parking options to choose from.
Position Yourself
The first step is to get in the correct position. Park next to the vehicle in front of the parking space you want. Make sure there’s a distance of two to three feet between you and the parked vehicle, so there’s no danger of clipping it.
Check Mirrors
Before you reverse, check your rearview and sideview mirrors to ensure there are no moving vehicles behind you. You’ll be concentrating on reversing, and you don’t want to be surprised by a vehicle that suddenly appears behind you. Switch on your right turn indicator to show other drivers you’re going to park. Once all is clear, you’re ready to begin.
Back-Up
Shift into reverse gear and slowly move backward while turning the wheel to the right. Your Kia will start to move into the parking space. Check your mirrors as you reverse, and also watch if there’s enough space between your car and the vehicle in front of the parking.
Straighten Up
When you’re about 18″ from the curb, turn your wheel to the left and start to straighten up. You can time the movement by watching the license plate of the vehicle in front of the parking. When its license plate is in the center of your windshield, it’s time to turn to the left.
When you turn the wheel to the left, you’ll see that your Kia is drawn completely into the parking space.
Center Your Kia
Once you’re in the space, you’ll almost always be closer to the one behind you than the one in front of you. Shift from reverse into drive and move slowly forward in the space. Once you’re centered in the parking space, you’ve successfully parked parallel. Congratulations. It’s now time to switch the engine off, exit your car, and head wherever you are going.
Parking parallel isn’t as complex as it looks. It’s a skill, and the more you practice, the quicker and easier it will become. If you’d like to know more, visit us today at Courtesy Kia in Altoona, PA.
