Regular Kia maintenance fixes minor issues that develop over time, preventing them from worsening and creating more serious problems. As your Kia dealer, all our maintenance is performed by Kia-trained technicians using Kia-approved replacement parts. We want to tell you about a few examples of the types of maintenance we offer.
Engine Diagnostics
An engine diagnostic is used to identify issues affecting engine performance. Your Kia contains numerous sensors, each connected to an important component. The sensors provide information to your computer on system health and performance. They are very sensitive and can detect minute changes with their connected component and instantly inform your computer. The computer then triggers the check engine light.
Your computer logs the problem with an error code. Our technicians connect an ODB II scanner to your computer, which lists all error codes. These codes are compared to the code list for your Kia model, and they help pinpoint the source of the problem. This saves time, as the technicians can immediately focus on the problem and repair it.
Radiator Hose Replacement
The radiator is the center of your Kia’s cooling system. Engine heat is absorbed by fast-moving coolant and transferred to the radiator. Once inside the radiator, the hot coolant enters rows of thin metal tubes and is cooled by airflow through the grille. The radiator is connected to the cooling system by two thick, reinforced rubber hoses.
The hoses are engineered to withstand high temperatures for sustained periods, as hot coolant can easily reach temperatures above 300 F. As time passes, the hoses will lose flexibility, resulting in cracking. The cracks will expand and deepen, eventually causing a leak. As coolant leaks, your engine temperature will rise, and it could overheat. We’ll test the hoses and replace them if required.
Cabin Air Filter Replacement
The cabin air filter collects pollen, dirt, and other minute debris to prevent it from entering the cabin. It also filters any remaining contaminants from the air blown into your cabin by the AC. As time passes, the filter will become blocked, and you’ll notice a musty smell in the cabin. If you or your passengers have allergies, they can be triggered by the unfiltered air in the cabin.
This air filter usually needs replacement after 15,000 miles, but this can be reduced if you regularly drive in dusty conditions, as this causes the filter to clog faster. Our technicians can speedily fix this issue by replacing the dirty filter, and you’ll notice an immediate improvement in air quality.
